Mia is a wonderful, tall vase / lantern with a subtly fluted texture. It is mouth blown from 100% recycled glass. The glass has a subtle green tint with a few air bubbles present, characteristic of the handmade process. The versatile tapered shape may be used for various cut flowers and foliage, or as a candle lantern. Locally sourced clear jars and bottles are sorted, crushed and heated in the furnace until molten. The skilled glassblower gathers, shapes and makes impressions in the glass that will form the partial optic texture. It is then blown into wooden moulds to form the vase/lantern. Air bubbles will occur as part of this 100% recycled and handmade process. Dimensions 31cm H 15cm W (Due to its handmade nature, the size of this item may vary slightly.) Handwash the glass in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.
Brand: LSA International
LSA International design and create contemporary, handmade glassware from their London-based studio. Co-founded in the 1960s by Janusz Lubkowski, today the company’s Designer & Creative Director is his daughter, Monika Lubkowska-Jonas. LSA’s first ever product was a classic enamelled coffee pot, which sold in Terence Conran’s Habitat stores. Then and now, LSA International is committed to original design, quality materials and expert craftsmanship. Monika continues her father’s vision and works to ensure that the company’s heritage is reflected in the provenance of their products. Most recently, LSA International has re-approached their process with sustainability in mind, ensuring their environmental, social and economic impact is kept to a minimum.
